Hello,
This week I am sharing the Barred Owl, it was seen often during our visits to the Circle B bar Reserve near Lakeland Florida. I love the owls and seeing this pair was a thrill every time.
We often saw these two Barred owls sitting together, a few times we even saw a third Barred Owl in a nearby tree. I thought maybe the third owl was from last year's nesting.
The Barred Owl has a pale face with rings around the eyes. Their bellies are streaked vertically.
They have a yellow beak and brown eyes. Their diet is mostly rodents or small mammals.
My Barred Owl video, it took a little bit to find him/her in the tree.
Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what great captures you have for us. They are just a beautiful creature, although I don't like hearing them in the trees when I take my pups out late. Little Dash would be in big trouble! Not sure what owls we actually have here, I should check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love owls - you captured some great photos, Eileen! Love their beautiful markings. Hope you are having a good start to your week. xx Karen
ReplyDeleteSuch precious shots!
ReplyDeleteAlong with the Great Gray Owls, Barred Owls are my favorite Owls. I just love them and the opening image is really marvelous, and you should have it printed and framed. Like a natural watercolour feel. Thank you for sharing these and for all that you do. Hugs~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, Eileen, of the barred owls and the little bit of info on their appearance and eating habits. Don't know if I've ever seen one, but now, I will surely recognize one if I do! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week!

ReplyDeleteHello Eileen! These are well camouflaged owls! I'm sure it was amazing to watch them! Your photos are super!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Great photos . . .
ReplyDeleteMust be beyond thrilling to happen upon a sight like that . . .
We have owls in the wild, but of course only the trekkers and birders see them, not me! But when i was in college we camped in the forest and i saw an owl-looking small creature at eye level. It was just like a stuffed toy, not moving, not even blinking an eye. We are inside the forest, and our forest here is so dense unlike those you have in cold countries. I was so scared that i ran back to my 2 companions.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happ day.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Anne-Mari
I love owls - maybe it's the wise owl thing from childhood, they certainly are striking birds, I love the pair of them together, so cute!
